I know Lancelot and Gwen are really the *true love* couple of this triangle but I think this episode came too soon in the series... There should have been an episode with just Merlin-Arthur-Lancelot --Sort of boys on an adventure-So that we could see Arthur and Lancelot become Friends/Comrades before everything was overshadowed by their individual feelings for Gwen..Plus it could have been an episode just for the fun of it. This episode should have been at the end of Series 2--Sort of a cliff-hanger about the beginning of the Love triangle.. Have to say that Gwen is really low on my list of favorite people--You just can:t ASK Arthur to become a man of Principle and seek the higher ground if you can:t do it yourself--she leaves the castle giving him long, romantic looks and when he comes to save her backside--and Lancelot-- cause face it, they would be dead without Arthur and Merlin, She is holding hands like a bride with Lancelot, what is Arthur to think?? His covering up his true feelings is not the act of a bad person, just the hurt of someone who is just learning to express his softer side. You just know growing up with Uther as a dad was NOT an easy childhood-wouldn*t be surprised if Uther smacked him around as a child--So Gwen tempting him with love seems kind of mean.
